Amazing. Over 150 people signed the guest book at my Campfire in the Basement: Reflections from a North Woods Lake Book Launch event on April 23. Tons of relatives, old and new friends – including a huge delegation from First Lutheran in Aitkin, and Lord of Life Lutheran in Baxter – attended. Lots of compliments about the little people out front and about the s’mores dessert my wife, Jennifer, and her helpers made! One hundred and sixty-four books sold that day. Since then, I have visited every little town between Brainerd and Bemidji, Moorhead, Alexandria, Grand Rapids and Duluth. I have sold or distributed over 400 books. My second order of 500 has been placed. For now, Campfire in the Basement can be found in 1 floral shop, 1 Scandinavian Shop, 2 bait shops, 3 museums, 3 drug stores, 4 libraries, several tourist type stores and several bookstores for a total of over 40 sites. You can order the book from my website: darrelljpedersen.com. Or you can find it in Baxter/Brainerd at Cattales Book and Gifts, The Northland Arb, S & W Baits, Guide Point Pharmacy and at The Brainerd Public Library.
I have been totally overwhelmed with the support and encouragement I have received. Thanks to the whole team that has helped me to get my book into print, hold the Book Launch, and now purchase and pass the word along about the fun, humorous, sad, challenging – real life stories/adventures Campfire in the Basement includes. I am hopeful that whoever reads my book will be, in one way or another, lifted and given joy, in the moment, and maybe even as we head into the future, together, in our challenging, yet amazing world.
S’mores in a book! Jennifer’s creation for the book launch.
